Terms & Conditions

A legal disclaimer

Last updated: 16 March 2026

Welcome to Zerosum Recordings. By using this website, making an enquiry, booking a service, purchasing digital content, or otherwise engaging with ZeroSum Recordings, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before using the site or purchasing any services.

About Us

Zerosum Recordings is an independent audio production business operated by Jason Shuttleworth in the United Kingdom. Services may include, but are not limited to, studio recording, mobile recording, mixing, mastering, podcast recording and editing, sound design, live sound reinforcement, theatre technical support, and the sale or display of creative and academic portfolio work through this website.

Services

All services are subject to availability and may require prior discussion before booking is confirmed. Zerosum Recordings reserves the right to refuse, decline, or cancel a booking where the project is unsuitable, outside the available scope, or cannot be completed to an appropriate standard within the agreed timeframe.

Any service descriptions, durations, prices, or turnaround times shown on this website are provided as a guide and may be adjusted depending on the specific requirements of the project.

Bookings and Payment

A booking is only confirmed once it has been accepted by Zerosum Recordings and, where required, a deposit or full payment has been received.

Payment terms may vary depending on the service provided. For project-based work, an invoice may be issued before work begins, during the project, or upon completion, depending on the nature of the agreement.

Zerosum Recordings reserves the right to pause, withhold, or delay delivery of files, mixes, masters, edits, or other project materials until the agreed payment has been received in full.

Where payments are processed through third-party platforms such as Stripe, PayPal, Wix Payments, or other approved providers, those transactions are also subject to the terms and policies of the relevant payment platform.

Cancellations and Rescheduling

If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking, reasonable notice should be given as early as possible.

Zerosum Recordings reserves the right to retain any non-refundable deposit where preparation, scheduling, setup time, travel, or other project costs have already been committed.

Where a session is cancelled at short notice, a cancellation fee may be charged, especially where time has been blocked out and cannot reasonably be rebooked.

If Zerosum Recordings needs to reschedule a session due to illness, technical failure, emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances, an alternative date will be offered where possible.

Client Responsibilities

Clients are responsible for providing accurate information about their project, including deadlines, technical requirements, session needs, file formats, and any relevant creative direction.

For recording sessions, clients are expected to arrive prepared, on time, and with any agreed-upon equipment, instruments, or materials.

For mixing, mastering, editing, or sound design work, clients are responsible for supplying usable files in the agreed format. Zerosum Recordings is not responsible for issues caused by poor-quality source material, corrupted files, missing assets, or inaccurate client information.

Turnaround Times

Any estimated turnaround times are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed unless explicitly agreed in writing.

Delivery times may vary depending on project complexity, revision requests, client response times, technical issues, illness, workload, or other factors outside reasonable control.

Revisions

Where revisions are included, they must fall within the scope of the original brief. Additional edits, major structural changes, or repeated revisions outside the agreed scope may be charged separately.

Zerosum Recordings reserves the right to determine whether a requested change constitutes a standard revision or additional work.

Digital Products and Downloads

Any digital music, audio, video, documents, downloads, or portfolio materials sold or made available through this website are for personal use only unless otherwise stated in writing.

You may not reproduce, redistribute, resell, commercially exploit, alter, or publicly share any purchased or downloaded material without prior written permission from Zerosum Recordings and, where relevant, the underlying rights holder.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Zerosum Recordings retains ownership of all original website content, branding, text, graphics, audio samples, service descriptions, and other original materials displayed on this website.

Clients retain ownership of their own original songs, recordings, and creative work, subject to any third-party rights, permissions, or licensing obligations.

Zerosum Recordings reserves the right to showcase completed work, excerpts, screenshots, stills, project descriptions, or credited material in its portfolio, website, and social media unless a prior confidentiality agreement has been made in writing.

Client Content and Rights Clearance

By submitting files, recordings, music, artwork, video, podcast material, or any other content for use in a project, you confirm that you have the right to use that material and that it does not infringe the rights of any third party.

You are solely responsible for securing any necessary permissions, licences, clearances, or consents relating to copyrighted material, samples, performances, compositions, artwork, likenesses, or commercial usage.

Zerosum Recordings accepts no liability for rights disputes arising from materials supplied by a client.

Portfolio and Academic Work

This website may include examples of academic, portfolio, non-commercial, or assignment-based work. Any references to existing media, trailers, songs, or creative works remain the property of their respective owners where applicable.

Such material is displayed for portfolio, educational, or demonstration purposes only unless otherwise stated.
